You can buy gift cards to pay for your purchases at supermarkets as well as a variety of other retailers. Take advantage of this program and you can receive a free $25 gift card for every $1250 of cards you buy each year

Memorial Walkway and Children's Garden of Remembrance

Here at Maria Regina, we have a Children's Garden of Remembrance as well as the Maria Regina Memorial Walkway. (These are both located behind the school and are in the process of renovation.) Engraved bricks can be purchased with the name of your loved one, a special occasion, or a prayer of gratitude. Each brick is $100 and forms can be picked up at the Rectory Office. If you have any questions, please call the Rectory.

Electronic Giving

Have your Sunday Offering deposited directly from your checking or savings account into the parish account. We offer this convenience for weekly collections and second collections including Holy Days.  The form to begin this process can be picked up at the Rectory.  Parishioners are still encouraged to drop their Sunday offering envelopes in the basket at Mass and mark on the envelope that their parish offering is through electronic checking.

Time and Talent

Click here to see a partial list of the many ministries here at MR. How is God calling you to service of your brothers and sisters? As you come to know us, please feel free to call any one of us on Staff so that we might help you to discern where your talents might be best used.

Consolation Ministries

Become a Minister of Consolation

St. Paul teaches that when one person in the community suffers, so do we all.  Thus, at the time of the death of a loved one, we minister to the grieving through the Consolation Ministry and by witnessing to the love of God.  Our trained teams help the family to plan a beautiful Mass of Christian Burial including the choices of Scripture Readings, Music and assisting family members who would like to be invloved in the Mass.
All are invited to consider being a part of this moving minstry either as a planner, a minister of presence or a minister of the Altar.
Call the Rectory for more details.

Youth Ministry

Maria Regina rel edMaria Regina's Youth Ministry Mission Statement

To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6.8

Maria Regina's Youth Ministry Program is a vibrant and welcoming youth community that surrounds youth with an unconditional love that fosters genuine relationships, anchors them in the joys and traditions of the Roman Catholic faith and energizes and equips them to extend the love of Christ to the world. Our Mission is to actively work for the transformation of the world by awakening and deepening our own personal faith in order to be Christ-bearers for our world. It is through Christ, with Christ, and in Christ that our youth experience empowerment to become agents of change and to live lives fully surrendered to God through prayer, retreats, service opportunities and social gatherings.

Service Ministries

Holy Name Society

Holy Name Society membership is open to all men of the parish over the age of eighteen. Many HNS members serve in other parish ministries as well as on various HNS committees. There are monthly meetings where members have the opportunity to exchange ideas and make recommendations to the Pastor.

The Inn Keepers

The Maria Regina Innkeepers prepare over 900 meals and 4,000 sandwiches per month and deliver them to the Mary Brennan INN Soup Kitchen in Hempstead.  The Mary Brennan INN Soup Kitchen serves five hot lunches per week and we help serve lunch once per month.  We also prepare the Thanksgiving dinner for the INN.  None of this would be possible without the help of the Maria Regina parishioners who donate their time, talent, treasure and prayers. For more information or to volunteer or make sandwiches, contact coordinator George Lyons at This email address is being protected from spambots. Liturgical Ministries

Priests and Deacons

We are all called to serve God in different ways.  Many are called to be priests, permanent deacons and professed religious.  The community of Maria Regiona prays that if you hear this call, you will be open to God's gentle voice. Call one of our priests or deacons if you wish to discuss the joy of service in the church.

Ushers and Greeters

This special ministry, often the first contact with a guest who enters our doors, is a very important ministry. Duties vary with the needs of each Mass, but a smiling face and a cordial greeting goes a very long way.

Altar Servers

We have some of the best servers on Long Island! If you wish to serve and are Grade 4 or older, please contact the Rectory.

Lectors

Lectors are lay Catholics who proclaim the Word of God (the Sacred Scriptures) at Mass and other liturgies.  For more information about how to become a lector, contact the Rectory.

Eucharistic Ministers

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist, often called "Eucharistic Ministers," are lay Catholics who are commissioned to distribute the Eucharist at Mass or to those at home or in the hospital who are too ill to attend Mass.  For more information about how to become a  Eucharistic Minister, contact the Rectory.

Music Ministry

Why not become a Music Minister? To learn more about the music ministry, please contact Lauretta Kowalik or Christina Leone at (516) 798-2415. We are currently seeking volunteers for the following:

Adult Choir
This group rehearses every Wednesday at 7:00pm in the church and sings every Sunday at the 9:00 AM Mass as well as holidays and other special events. No previous experience is necessary. If you are not able to commit weekly for rehearsal and Mass, perhaps you might consider Festival Choir for Christmas and Easter. You are most welcome!

Children/Youth Choir
This group rehearses every Thursday evening at 5:00 PM in the church. They provide music for Sunday at the 10:30am Mass. We need children from grade 3 and up.

Cherub Choir

This group rehearses on Thursday afternoons at 4:30 PM in the church. No previous experience is necessary. Children ages 4 to 8 are welcome.  Parental attendance at rehearsals is requested until the children feel comfortable in this setting.

Adult Handbell Choir/Children's Handbell Choir
We are currently developing a new program and schedule for our handbell choirs.  Please contact us if you are interested in this fun ministry!

Cantors
Cantors are experienced singers who lead our congreagation in the sung prayer of our liturgies.  We encourage anyone with some singing experience to consider being a part of this vital and rewarding ministry. Candidates will receive the training and guidance necessary for this special role.

Instumentalists
We are always interested in enhancing our liturgies with instrumental music. If you play the violin, viola, cello, trumpet, flute, oboe, clarinet (etc.), we would love to have you join us for Choir Masses and other Masses per your schedule- especially on Holy Days, Advent, Christmas and Easter.  Please contact us for more information.

Folk Group
Our Folk Group rehearses at 4:00 PM on Sunday and serves the 5:00 PM Sunday Mass.  We would like to enhance the group, adding singers and instrumentalists (which currently consists of guitar, piano, oboe, violion and several singers.) This group offers a special opportunity for young musicians, age 15 and up to become a part of a great group of musicians.  Please contact the Music Ministry through the Rectory number: (516) 798-2415.

Pastor's Message

Welcome to Maria Regina!

I'd like to welcome you to the website of our parish, Maria Regina in Seaford New York!Fr. Frank
We are a Roman Catholic community located on the South Shore of Long Island.  We number approximately 6,000 families and are committed to the teachings and challenges of Vatican II. We join with our sisters and brothers in the Diocese of Rockville Centre as we search for ways to 'Belong More Deeply' to the Church and to be evangelizers of our Faith.

We are proud of the great amount of lay involvement here at MR.  On any given night, you might find over 15 people cooking in our kitchen to provide food for The INN (Interfaith Nutritional Network), a Family Faith session for over 1800 children, choir practice or handbell choir, the Rosary being prayed at Our Lady's Grotto on Jerusalem Avenue, a Liturgy Committee meeting, an Outreach volunteer providing food or advocacy, or any number of other ministries. They are all represented on the pages of this website.

I invite you to spend some time at the website of our school.  You will find a link to that page through this site. Our school is a premier Early Childhood, Elementary and Middle-School Catholic School which is in its 57th year of fine education.  Our school offers classes from Nursery and Pre-K through the 8th grade and rates among the finest on Long Island. Our faculty, fully accredited through the New York State Department of Education, devote their lives to the future of our young people.
The Ministry of Faith Formation (Religious Education) is a busy school of over 1,500 young people and more than 150 Catechists.  What a blessing, but also an obligation which we take very seriously, to pass the faith on through the Sacraments and 8 years of instruction to the next generation.

Our Web page will provide you with an introduction to the ministry and worship of our parish.  It will give you an over-view of the 'goings on' of this busy community of faith. I also would like to invite you to visit our campus, to pray with us and join with us as we strive to witness to Christ at all times and in all ways.

May God bless you and your family, and welcome to Maria Regina!

Father Frank Nelson
Pastor
